Federal Polytechnic, Daura, Katsina State, has secured a major financial boost of N750 million from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) to enhance skill development initiatives and upgrade its facilities.
The intervention includes N350 million dedicated to expanding skills acquisition programmes and N400 million for upgrading equipment and laboratory infrastructure.
The Pioneer Rector, Aliyu Mamman, announced this during a press conference at the institution’s permanent site, held ahead of its second convocation ceremony.
Mamman highlighted the positive impact of the funding, noting that the institution’s practical training capacity has been significantly strengthened. According to him, eight laboratories across various departments have been equipped with solar power, ensuring students can conduct practicals without interruption from power outages.
“These kind gestures by the TETFund are recognized and highly appreciated,” Mamman stated.

Looking ahead to the convocation, Mamman mentioned that 408 students from 11 departments and programmes will be graduating. He expressed concern, however, over the relatively low number of graduates, attributing it to low student enrolment in earlier years.
Despite the challenges, Mamman commended the pioneer team for their resilience and dedication over the past five years, transforming the institution from what was once “looking like a farm” into a growing academic hub.
The Students Forum Nigeria serves as the ultimate hub for Nigerian students, fostering academic growth, social engagement, and knowledge sharing.
