NELFUND Disburses N156m School Fees Loan to Niger Delta, Dennis Osadebay Varsity Students

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has disbursed a total of N156.11 million to 1,264 students of Niger Delta University (NDU) and Dennis Osadebay University (DOU) as school fees loans.

This was disclosed in separate letters of acknowledgement written by the Vice-Chancellors of both institutions to NELFUND.

At Niger Delta University, Bayelsa State, the fund released N126.07 million to cover school fees for 1,125 students for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Allen Agih, confirmed this in a letter dated July 24, 2026, noting that the institution had received the money on behalf of the affected students.

Agih commended NELFUND for its continued support and commitment to education and institutional development.

Dennis Osadebay University, Asaba, also acknowledged receiving N30.0445 million from NELFUND for 139 students for the same academic session.

In a letter dated August 4, 2026, the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Samuel Aghalino, said the acknowledgement was made on behalf of the school’s management and students.

He thanked NELFUND for the intervention, adding that its management of the student loan scheme had made a positive impact on beneficiaries.

Both universities praised the Managing Director of NELFUND, Akintunde Sawyerr, for his effective handling of the loan scheme and its impact on students across the country.
